Questions

What fonthead is, what stays on your machine, and how the maker works.

Is fonthead free?

Yes. Making, downloading, and publishing fonts is free, and you can browse and download without an account. An account lets you publish to the wall and keep favorites.

Does my image or font leave my computer?

Not while you build. Tracing, font assembly, and woff2 compression all run in your browser. A font only leaves your device if you choose to publish it.

What formats can I make?

Monochrome fonts export as OTF, TTF, and WOFF2. Color fonts export as COLR/CPAL OTF and WOFF2. They install like any other font.

How do I make a font?

Drop an alphabet sheet, a grid of your letters, into the maker. It traces each letter and assembles a font you can preview, download, and publish.

Will the fonts work on Windows?

Yes. Each font is validated the way Windows validates fonts, so the files open and install on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

Who runs fonthead?

fonthead.dev is built by A&C Meridian.
